A glance at history.
The Malacca Kerala Samajam (1986)/Persatuan Malayalee Melaka (1986) was registered with the Registrar of Societies in 1986 and is now 35 years old. This Samajam has helped foster relationships and culture among Malayalees living in areas such as Jasin, Alor Gajah and other parts of Melaka. It is probably the only remaining evidence of the struggle for an association for Malayalees in Melaka that was initiated by a group of men in the last few decades.
In 1994, Malacca Kerala Samajam (1986) bought its own building, a shop house, which is called the “Samajam Building” or “MKS House”. This was initiated by Mr N.M Cherian, who was the President of MKS (1986) at that time. The registered address is 387-C, Jalan Melor 1, Taman Peringgit Jaya, 75400, Melaka. Since then the “MKS House” was used for all meetings and most of its functions if the capacity permits.
The current President, for the term 2021-2022 is Mr Revi Andran who was elected at the 36th AGM.
